Update on Naturopathic bill

Dear Derrick,

The House Health and Human Services (HHS) committee heard public testimony regarding HB 1064, the bill to regulate naturopathic doctors, on February 4. There was a large turnout of people both in support of and opposition to the bill. The supporters did a beautiful job testifying and answering the legislator’s questions. Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who braved the weather and waited for several hours for the hearing!

Action on the bill was postponed until Thursday February 14th in order to provide additional time for various groups to meet and propose amendments. This meeting of the HHS committee will be “action only,” meaning there will only be a vote on the bill and no opportunity for public testimony. You are welcome to attend in order to hear the vote or you may listen in on the Internet by following the links at http://www.leg.state.co.us to the audio connection in the hearing room. The current link is: http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2008a/cslFrontPages.nsf/Audio?OpenForm

Thank you all who have written letters, called or emailed your representatives, and attended the hearing! As the bill proceeds, we will have many other opportunities for you to participate. The bill is on the move, and we are all excited!

CANP President
